Synthetic Eden

Gone are the micro reminders in our busy lives to take a break and relax, reconnect with nature, and care for something outside of ourselves. Instead we have replaced these moments with more distractions that lead us further from intimate connections with each other and our world.

Replicated natural patterns and fake plants decorate our lives at every corner. Whether it's on clothing, sitting on a window sill, or draped over a fence for privacy, we have unknowingly replaced tiny moments of life that once tied us to our natural world.

Convenience has a swift and subtle way of stripping away the important things in our lives. We fool ourselves into believing we're progressing in the right path, and that this one thing won't impact us negatively. We slowly move through our homes, dressing it in faux leaves and flowers in an attempt to recreate an image of beauty.

This cheap facade of fulfillment quickly takes root, spreading through the fabric of our lives until we're isolated in our own garden. A plot of insignificance, a sterile yard of plastic and dyes, a pollen-less mound of nowt.

A Synthetic Eden.
